OSCARS Won’t Air 8 Categories Live For The First Time! Here’s Why

Ratings are down since last year with a new record with only 9.85 million viewers. The Academy had decided to try a new format of broadcasting the whole event. Is it a discrimination or is it a fair play?

The Academy Awards will not air all categories live on television. The ratings for broadcast were (just 7 years ago) at its highest at 43.7 million viewers. Last year it was just 9.85 million. In other words nobody gave a sh*t last year.

If I compare 2020, it was 23.6 million viewers so still kind of like 50% less than 7 years ago which is a big deal and it doesn’t seem to go up, it just seems to go down.

The Academy tries new approach to boost rating

The idea is that they will pre-record eight categories before they start a live broadcast so the setup is the same. Everybody will be sitting on their seats and they will announce nominees and winners of eight categories and they record it.

In the meantime, they edit it when the actual live broadcast will start with other categories and then when the categories arrive, they just do like short edits of nominees and winners.
