Rejected by 500 Companies, Then Millionaires Came Knocking
Finding a job is a challenging endeavour. You receive countless negative responses, and you just have to keep going. But when is that moment when you say, “I’ve had enough?” How do you find your dream job?
Anyone looking for a job is seen as a piece of a product. Yes, a piece, not even a whole product. People are viewed as numbers, without respect from most recruiters.
When I moved to London, I looked for a job because I thought I needed someone to say YES. Someone who would give me a chance to fulfil my dreams.
In reality, I was the only person who could fulfil my dreams, but in a city where you don’t know anyone, you always choose the path of employment. At the beginning, at least. Even if it’s not what you really want.
I had trouble getting in-person interviews. Every time I mentioned that I’d only been in London for a few weeks or months, I wouldn’t hear back.
When I dealt directly with HR departments and not agency recruiters, I was always invited for an in-person interview. Unfortunately, this only happened three times.
I wasn’t just a number to them; I was a potential employee, and they saw that right away. But they still didn’t choose me.
