Slovakian Homeless Are Starving While Ukrainians With Gucci Bags Are Fed For Free
I recently went home to Slovakia and I was astounded what is happenning there. My hometown Presov is about 100 km from Ukraine and it serves as a good and convenient shelter for many refugees. But what is the reality actually looking like?
Every story has 2 sides
I’m not trying to say that people are not running away from war, from horrible conditions. However, I am going to say that there is another side of the story.
Every country should take care of its people first, and then help others. When you fly, the stewards explain to you that you have to put on the oxygen mask before your child, for example. If you can’t save yourself first, you won’t save any other person either.
Cost of living crisis since 1993
My hometown suffers from cost of living crisis and no it’s not for the last couple of months. It’s since I remember. Just to give you an overview in 2022, if you have a job with a minimum wage, you earn 3.7 EURO per hour. That is £3.1. It’s important to mention that my hometown has the highest unemployment in Slovakia. Basically, there are no jobs. No big or new business, no opportunities. Especially after the pandemic.
