Why PATRIZIA GUCCI Murdered Her Husband?

Patrizia Reggiani was born on 2nd December 1948 and long story short she hired a hitman to kill her former husband Maurizio Gucci.

Patrizia grew up poor not knowing her father, it was her mother that married wealthy entrepreneur. Her mother showed her how it’s done!

Patrizia met Maurizio at a Gucci party in 1970. Two years later they got married and moved to New York. Patrizia started climbing a social ladder, and even became friends with Jackie Kennedy.

It was a happy love story until Patrizia wanted more. She wanted more influence on the company of Gucci, she wanted more money and power. Maurizio didn’t really like it as we seen in the film, he didn’t want to be part of the Gucci Empire.

In 1985, Maurizio told Patrizia he is going for a business trip to Florence. The following day he sent a friend to tell Patrizia he’s not coming back. Ever.

In 1993, Maurizio started dating Paola, causing jealousy in Patrizia. In 1994, she officially divorced Maurizio. As part of a settlement Maurizio agreed to pay Patrizia alimony of 1.47 million dollars per year.

By law Patrizia couldn’t use name Gucci anymore but she continued to do so stating: ‘I still feel like a Gucci, in fact, the most Gucci of them all.’

Maurizio wanted to marry Paola which would cut Patrizia’s alimony by half. Patrizia was furious.

A year after the divorce on 27 March 1995, Maurizio Gucci was shot and killed on the steps outside his office. He was shot 3 times, and then got a final fatal shot in to the temple. The case wasn’t solved for 2 years as the police assumed the case was connected to the Gucci Empire. However Patrizia was openly speaking about plotting her husband’s murder to her friends and staff.
